Epidemiological studies of short and long sleepers have not been conducted previously. We collected socioeconomic, psychological, and polysomnographic characteristics of 6501 parents (3252 men and 3249 women) of 4036 primary school children in Guangzhou city. The study data were collected in three phases. The overall prevalence of short (5 h or less) and long (10 h or more) sleep duration was 0.52 and 0.64%, respectively. Long sleepers had higher Eysenck Personality Questionnaire neuroticism scores [odds ratio (OR)=1.224, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.047-1.409] and lower education levels (OR=0.740, 95%CI=0.631-0.849) than short sleepers. Los estudios sobre descriptores varietales en avena son escasos en México. Por ello la importancia del presente trabajo para poder evaluar a los descriptores y ver cuales son aplicables sin que se modifiquen, cuáles se pueden considerar y cuáles podrían ser descartados, esto debido a que son fuertemente influenciados por el ambiente. El objetivo de este trabajo fue caracterizar las variedades de Avena sativa cultivadas en México, mediante el uso de descriptores varietales específicos. In this study, we evaluate the preference of consumers in Niger for different tuwo or couscous characteristics using conjoint analysis. Data were collected through a structured survey administered at 4 sites. Preferences are estimated for three products (couscous, fermented tuwo and nonfermented tuwo) made from 5 pearl millet cutivars. We provide relative valuation for different traits by type of product. Results show that product taste, visual characteristics, and textural attributes are important. The different valuation of characteristics across products and ethnic groups, however, suggests that signals regarding preferences may be very noisy. The independent variables were selected at 4 levels (13.62,15.16, 16.66 and lg.llo/o wb) for feed moisture contents and at 5levels (0.18,0.38,0.84, 1.01, 1.35 mm.) for parriclc sizc.
